camosun(ISN) - The Camosun Chargers Men's and Women's basketball teams advanced to the semi-finals of the Pacwest Championships with victories Thursday in the quarter-finals.

The Camosun men won their first round contest against Douglas College 68-62.

The win takes the Chargers to the semi's where they take on the second-seeded UNBC men at 6pm. PACWEST Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Year James Blandford (Stellys) was top in scoring with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Fourth-year guard Blake Mansbridge (Nanaimo) and newcomer Drake Downer (Oak Bay) had 14 apiece.

The Chargers women won their quarterfinal game against Quest 67-58 to advance to Friday's semifinal against top seeded UNBC at 3pm.

Second-year wing/point Aija Salvador (Oak Bay) led with 25 points while teammate Caitlin Marshall (4th year wing from St. Albert, AB) posted 21.

Caitlin Marshall (women) and James Blandford (men) picked up Player of the Game awards for their outstanding efforts.
