UVic-Logo web-(1)November 27, 2012, VICTORIA – The University of Victoria Vikes men's basketball team are hoping to bounce back from two road losses this weekend hosting the Lethbridge Pronghorns and Calgary Dinos on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Vikes men currently boast a 5-3 record and are second in the Canada West Pacific Division.

Last weekend, the Vikes conceded losses to No. 10 Alberta and No. 8 Saskatchewan, in a tough pair of games that saw the Vikes short-handed due to several injuries. The Vikes struggled without the size of Pierce Anderson (Calgary, AB) and Chris McLaughlin (Oakville, ON) and had limited minutes from Brandon Dunlop (Victoria, BC).

"Injuries are injuries and we will still need to find a way to prevail," said Vikes head coach Craig Beaucamp, who is hopeful to see some minutes from Anderson, McLaughlin and Dunlop this weekend. "We are going to need to have a better performance from the entire group and get some scoring from some of our other role players in order to be successful this weekend."

This weekend's match up against the Horns (5-3) and Dinos (4-4) will still be a grind. Though the Vikes prevailed 80-73 over Lethbridge on Oct. 19 at the Guy Vetrie Memorial tournament, the Horns have since improved and gained the skilled hands of guard Logan Reiter. The Dinos have experienced a tough turnover year but their athleticism and size has made them a consistently difficult match up in the Canada West.

The Vikes will face Lethbridge on Friday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. before turning over to host Calgary at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1. Friday night's events will be supported by the University of Victoria's Eco-Car. On both evenings, Vikes Athletics will be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to the Mustard Seed. All fans that bring food items will be able to enter to win a grand prize.

For ticket information visit http://govikesgo.com/tickets

Both Vikes games will be broadcast live at http://UVic.canadawest.tv
