July 5,2014(ISN) – After a remarkable run to the final, Vasek Pospisil (Vancouver, BC) and his American partner Jack Sock were crowned Wimbledon champions thanks a thrilling five set victory 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 over Bob and Mike Bryan, the no. 1 doubles team in the world.
Pospisil and Sock needed five match points to seal the victory. Pospsil becomes the third Canadian man to win a Grand Slam doubles title, following in the footsteps of Sebastien Lareau and Daniel Nestor. Nestor was defeated in the mixed doubles semifnals on Saturday alongside Kristina Mladenovic of France. The pair fell 7-6(4), 7-5 to Hao-Ching Chan and Max Mirnyi.
