It was a match up of a second year Spectrum Junior Varsity football team against a very experienced Belmont Junior Varsity football team, which the 50-0 final score reflected. The crowd of a couple hundred enjoyed watching this fresh crosstown rival exhibition game.
Spectrum started the game well enough with a 1st down on the opening drive but failed to keep the momentum going. They had some strong play from #19 Riley Wilson on both sides of the ball with runs and many tackles. Also some good runs from #9 Taymen Wright and #4 Chris Stark and #2 Bryden Holt.
Belmont was however much too strong and too structured for Spectrum to handle. Their QB #2 Kalen Jules had a wide selection of players to use, including, #3 Eli Nelms-Horton who had a productive game running the ball and caught some good passes from Kalen. Also with some agile runs were #10 Carter Price and #34 Lucas Nielsen.
Belmont were just too strong for Spectrum and in the end and showed that they are a force in High School football on Vancouver Island. A good sign for high school football in Victoria is the steady improvement of Belmont and the still new Spectrum program that football is doing well.
