November 7th, 2018 Langford, BC (ISN) – The Junior Varsity Mt. Douglas Rams advanced to the quarter finals of the BC Secondary Schools Football Association playoffs with a decisive 34-6 wildcard win over the Seaquam Seahawks Wednesday afternoon at Westhills Stadium in Langford, BC.
Finishing with a 3-1 regular season record, their only loss to division leading Belmont Bulldogs, the Rams will now advance to quarterfinals action next week against an opponent yet to be determined.
The Rams, scoring an average 28 pts per game in the regular season, would spare no quarter against the visiting Seahawks, setting the tone quickly in the first quarter with three TD’s in a balanced game on both sides of the ball.
Running backs Miltiadis Koulelis, Cole Bunting, and Parker Dix would all take turns carrying the ball to the house with starting QB Jackson Reid under center to call the plays.
Mt. Doug’s Bryce Reuther would add a fourth TD for his team carrying the ball out of the back field, beating three would be tacklers to the end zone to effectively put the game out of reach for Seaquam.
With the damage already done, the Rams would appear to throttle down in the third quarter offensively; their lone score of the second half a field goal in the third quarter.
The Seahawks, not to give into the shut out loss, would score in the fourth quarter as QB Nathan Summers, parked at midfield, would find teammate Jaiven Malhi deep over the middle for the reception and resulting thirty-five yard run to the end zone for the lone Seahawks major in the game.
The 34-6 Ram’s victory puts Mt. Doug on a three game win streak going into week two of the playoffs.
