The Nanaimo Clippers have announced Devan Tongue and Mike Kennedy have both committed to play for the team for the 2019/2020 BCHL Season.
Tongue, who is committed to Bentley University for the 2020-2021 season has spent the last three years at Northfield Mount Hermon (NE Prep), and led the team in scoring the last two seasons with 81 points in 60 games.
This season Tongue in 21 games has already posted 33 points.
“Tongue is a power forward who we are really looking forward to having on our team.” Mentioned Darren Naylor, Nanaimo Clippers Head Coach and General Manager “He will certainly make a difference in our lineup.”
Tongue decided to commit to Nanaimo because of its history of developing players “I know the coaching staff have a vision to develop players to the next level and that is where i’d like to be.” Devan Tongue said.
Mike Kennedy who is committed to Princeton University for the 2020-2021 season is a defensemen in his fourth year with Northfield Mount Hermon. He has captained the team for the past two seasons including the teams best season in history. On top of that he has also posted 79 points from the blueline.
“Kennedy is a leader on and off the ice and can contribute offensively during games, which is what we like to see from our guys.” Darren Naylor commented “We are excited to have him joining our team.”
Kennedy like Tongue chose Nanaimo because of the coaching staffs vision “Nanaimo Coaching Staff have a great reputation and I feel like I will fit in well. I know the BCHL is a great league and has a strong track record of getting player ready for college and beyond.” Kennedy mentioned.
