VICTORIA- The University of Victoria men’s golf team placed second at their first event of 2019 down south at the Arizona Christian University Spring Invitational. The Vikes found themselves just five shots behind Ottawa University (AZ) after the first day of competition but were unable to make up any ground finishing the two-day tournament with a combined team score of 603.

First-year Robin Conlan was the top golfer in tournament for the Vikes, posting back-to-back rounds of 73 (+1) to finish third overall in the individual standings with a final score of +2 (146).
“The way Robin was striking the ball kept him close to the top of the leader board all tournament long,” said Vike head coach Justin Clews. “The opening round was tough due to the weather conditions but he was able to battle through it and come up with a great score.”
Fourth-year Vike Jake Hamilton improved on his first round score of +5 (77) by three strokes in his second round, posting a final score of 151 to finish in a tie for tenth place.
Rounding out the scores for Victoria were John Morrow (153) who finished in a tie for 12th, Max Murchison (154) who jumped up 12 spots in the standings on the second day to finish tied for 15th and Josh Miller (157) who finished tied for the 22nd.
Next up, the Vikes travel back down south to Nevada for the Battle at the Primm tournament held at the Primm Valley Golf Club on Mar.18-19.
