The VIU Mariners win their 17th PACWEST gold medal after a clean sweep of the Douglas Royals on Saturday night.

The Mariners used balanced scoring getting production from a number of different players. Danielle Groenendijk was named Player of the Match compiling 12 kills, six digs and had a block. Karoline Tormenia had 11 kills, eight digs and had a pair of blocks. The fourth year veteran Andrea Cankovic chipped in with a pair of aces, four kills and seven digs.

The Royals were led offensively by Caet McCorkell who had six kills and Player of the Match Vania Oliveira tallied five kills, 10 digs and had two blocks.

Both teams are now off to the CCAA National championship in Ontario hosted by Niagara College in two weeks. The Mariners will be the PACWEST representative while the Royals will be a wildcard.
