The BC Lions announced that international defensive linemen Ricarlo Bell, Whitney Richardson and Albert Havili have been signed by the team.
Bell (6’3”, 240) spent last season with the Cedar Rapids Titans of the Indoor Football League and enjoyed a remarkable debut season with 36 tackles, seven sacks, 14 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Leading the league in both sacks and forced fumbles, Ricarlo was named the IFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Richardson (6’4”, 250) comes north of the border after a pair of training camp stints with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017 and 2018. The former Lane College (Tennessee) grad led the nation in 2016 with 17 sacks.
Havili (6’2”, 280) attended training camp with the Buffalo Bills in 2018 after a productive 53-game career at Eastern Washington. Registering 199 total tackles and 12 career sacks with the Eagles, Albert also demonstrated a nose for the football, knocking down seven passes, forcing two fumbles and returning an interception 77 yards for a touchdown as a freshman.
