The Saanich Braves headed into tonight’s game against the Kerry Park Islanders up 3 games to 2 and wanted nothing to do about having to head back up to Kerry Park Saturday night for a game 7.
First period action produced no goals and was at times more of a feel out your opponent with few legitimate scoring opportunities on either side. Shots on net were pretty equal in the first period. Kerry Park with 12 and Saanich 11.
The Braves got on the board at 14:52 of the second period, with the goal coming from Jakob McQuillin and Evan Abgrall assisting.
Kerry Park went on the power play with a two man advantage nearing the closing few minutes of the second period but Saanich held them scoreless. The flood gates opened in the third period with Saanich Jackson Estey scoring only 1:52 into the period from a pass by Kyle Mace.
The Braves put their third marker on the scoreboard at 11:34 with Zach Guerra scoring from Ryan Strange. Kerry Parks Avery Nielsen-Webb took a 4 minute penalty at 13:14 for spearing followed by Logan Furkalo penalty for slashing at 13:53.
This gave Saanich a two man advantage and at 14:58. Gavin Grewal scored the fourth and final goal from Dale McCabe and Anderson Violette. The Braves go on to defeat Kerry park 4-0 and now wait to find out who they play in the next round.
