The Okanagan Rockets have won the first-ever Minor Midget League Championship defeating the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds in a best-of-three (3) series two (2) games to none.

The Rockets won both games of the championship series by only one (1) goal edging the Thunderbirds 3-2 on Saturday and 5-4 on Sunday. Brennan Nelson (Penticton, BC) led the way for the Rockets in game two (2) with four (4) points including one (1) goal and three (3) assists.

Okanagan is not only the playoff champion, they also took home the Minor Midget League regular season crown finishing a top the table with a 23-4-3 record. The path to the championship was not easy as they narrowly defeated the Vancouver North East Chiefs and Thompson Blazers two (2) games to one (1) in the quarterfinal and semi-final match-ups respectively.

The 2018-2019 season was the inaugural year for the Minor Midget League which features 15 year-old players and is affiliated with the Major Midget League (MML).
