The PACWEST is proud to announce that Harry Fayle of the VIU Mariners men’s basketball team has been named the Male Athlete of the Year across all-sports.

Fayle led the Mariners to a national gold medal this season and was named the Player of the Game in the title game after dropping 25 points. He was also named a First Team All-Star during the championship tournament.

In the regular season the Australian played all 18 games averaging 19.5 points a game and over four assists. He shot 43% from the field and 34% from downtown while making 28 steals on the defensive side.

He was named the PACWEST Player of the Year and named a CCAA All-Canadian.

“He was the heart and soul of our championship run,” says head coach Matt Kuzminski. “As our point guard he had tremendous responsibility and handled it fearlessly. Harry is a guy who is all about the team, is willing to be coached, and cares only about winning. Having leadership like Harry allows you to have a selfless team that will be together.”

Fayle becomes the seventh Mariner to win this award since 2012.
