Bin 4 Burger Lounge put-the-ball-in-the-back-of-the-net as the Title Sponsor of Vancouver Island FC, the Island’s only Women’s Premier Soccer League team. It’s a great connection for the growing restaurant chain as the made-in-Victoria business sees the great community opportunities possible by supporting great soccer.
Co-owner, Dan Blackmore, an admitted sports guy, welcomed the opportunity to be a part of history by supporting the Island’s best women soccer players take a run at top notch competition including the Seattle Sounders Women.
Co-Owner, Sarah Blackmore-”When I was asked to become the Title Sponsor of the Vancouver Island FC it got me very excited. As a female business owner in the community I really love the passion and qualities the women of the VIFC are portraying. It is going to be awesome for our community, our community coming together, especially in the Westshore where we have one of our locations.”
The VIFC is new, but the lead EPIC Sport has contributed to the development hundreds of young soccer players over the past three years. “The team fills a gap in the development pathway for current and former university female players are given an opportunity to compete and develop.” Coach Neil Sedgwick explains, “About 30 female players return to Vancouver Island every summer who play USport or NCAA soccer and about 30 more have retired from university or professional careers.”
WPSL, the largest women’s soccer league in the world, expanded to Victoria fall 2018, the new franchise is targeted to begin play in a short, but intense season running mid-May to mid-July 2019 at Langford’s Westhills Stadium. Game day fans will have a chance to win a Bin 4 gift card and pick their Go-To-Burger.
The VIFC will play in WPSL West Region’s Northwest Conference alongside the likes of TSS Rovers from the Lower Mainland, the Seattle Sounders, Eugene Timbers and the expansion Spokane Shadow.
