The Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks played their first home game of the season at the Q Center Saturday and came away with a hard-fought 8-6 victory over the visiting Port Coquitlam Saints.  The result has the Rocks at 1-1 with their next game on the road Sunday against defending league and Minto Cup champs, the Coquitlam Adanacs.

Zach Manns led the Shamrocks attack with a goal and 5 helpers.  Rookies Patrick Dodds and Casey Wilson each chipped in a pair of goals with veteran Ben Preston contributing a goal and 2 assists.  Returnee Cam Dunkerley was solid in his debut performance between the pipes, kicking out 36 of the 42 shots he faced.

In the other Saturday contest, the Tier 1, Junior ‘B’ Shamrocks found them on the losing end of an 18-6 decision at the hands of the Coquitlam Adanacs.  After 2 season-opening wins last weekend, the team has 2 wins and a loss and will travel to Richmond to face the Roadrunners Sunday.

Both teams return to the Q Center next Saturday, May 11 when the Tier 1 squad will take on the Delta Islanders at 1:00 pm and the Jr. ‘A’ team will face the Langley Thunder in a 5:00 pm start.
