Both Jr. Shamrocks teams were in action today at the Q Center, both coming away with wins. In the matinee it was the Tier 1 Junior B Rocks beating the Langley Thunder 11-5 to improve their record to 5-2, 2 points ahead of the Coquitlam Adanacs to top the standings. Graham Goodfellow and Joe Zerr each had a pair of goals and Nolan Dalep was strong in net to pick up the win. The Tier 1 Shamrocks are on the road against Coquitlam Sunday and return to the Q Center next Saturday at 1:00 to face the Richmond Roadrunners.
In the later contest the Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks doubled the visiting Burnaby Lakers 14-7, giving them a record of 4-2, good for a second place tie with the 4-0 Coquitlam Adanacs, 2 points behind the league-leading thunder. Leading Victoria’s offense were Zach Manns with 3 goals and 3 helpers and Ben Preston with 4 goals and 2 assists. Casey Wilson had a pair of goals and Cameron Dunkerley picked up the win in goal with some late help from Ryan Atkinson. The Jr. ‘A’ Rocks travel to Langley on Sunday and will play a mid-week home game in Duncan Wednesday, May 22 against their island rivals, the Nanaimo Timbermen who are off to a 3-0 start. Game time is 7:30 pm.
