The Western Canada Mountain Bike Tourism Association (MBTA) is excited to announce that on October 2nd to 4th Whistler’s Creekside Village will be the location for the 2019 MTB Tourism Symposium – powered by Trailforks. The opening reception will be on October 2nd followed by 2 days of informative sessions, group rides, social events and networking opportunities.
Mountain biking has become a significant travel motivator that currently generates over $70 million annually in visitor spending in the Sea to Sky Corridor alone. Riders from around the globe are inspired to visit British Columbia and ride our abundant trails. This in turn has created new economic opportunities for communities throughout the province.
Join us in Whistler and be part of the solution for a sustainable mountain bike tourism sector. The symposium brings stakeholders together to share their experience and best practices. Delegates include non-profit trail associations, destination marketing organizations, bike industry representatives, event producers, land managers, community and park planners, professional trail builders, travel media, content creators, educators, and government representatives.
Trailforks is the title sponsor for the 2019 MTB Tourism Symposium. Since its introduction Trailforks has become a true agent of change in the mountain bike world providing robust trail information and navigation for riders around the globe. Trailforks and its sister company Pinkbike, are both headquartered in Squamish, BC. Trailforks has become a world leader in creating systems and tools to enable associations and users to manage and accurately represent authorized trails in the fast-growing outdoor recreation segment. Combined with the vast image and video libraries from Pinkbike allows Trailforks to deliver a truly 360-degree experience of trail networks and riding destinations across the globe.
Whistler has become synonymous with mountain biking. The Whistler Mountain Bike Park is consistently ranked as the top lift access bike park in the world. The Whistler Off Road Cycling Association (WORCA) is the largest mountain bike club in Canada and is responsible for maintaining hundreds of kilometers of single track trails in the Whistler Valley trail system.
In the months ahead more details will be released about keynote speakers and the topics to be addressed during the symposium. Visit www.mtbtourismsymposium.ca to find out more and to sign up for updates.
