Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches – fourth longest in program history – with an away 0:0 draw against Spain. The Friday night draw was Canada’s last international test before this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019.

“I think it is important to have one of these tests close to the FIFA Women’s World Cup because Spain are a very good team,” said Kenneth Heiner-Møller, Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team Head Coach and Women’s National EXCEL Director.”It’s important because I think that we have a team that wants to defend and it starts with our captain Christine Sinclair. She’s definitely our leader and first defender and she’s doing a great job. They all make it easier for our back four.”

“The team is in great shape and I think we put on a good performance,” said centre back Kadeisha Buchanan. “We’ll take this point. I think we are in good shape and we’re on a good unbeaten streak ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.”
