With the 2018 season behind them the Westshore Rebels dedicated the off-season to making some much needed changes both on and off the field. Head Coach Shane Beatty not only brought back Coach J.C. Boice as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, but has also recruited Coach Doug Hocking former Head Coach of the VI Raiders to join his staff as an Offensive Consultant for the team. All three Coaches have been successful at winning the Cullen Cup during their Head Coaching careers and are looking forward to the challenge of bringing it back to the Westshore Rebels for the 2019 season.

Besides securing a very talented team of coaches and a solid core of returning players, Beatty and his staff have added an exceptional recruiting class made up of some highly skilled and experienced players who will add an exciting dynamic to the 2019 team.

“Players who are attending our Spring Camp better be ready to compete, compete, compete. They are going to have to earn their position on our team, and with so much talent already it is going to be tough to secure a position. I am excited to see what these players bring to the field,” states Coach Beatty.

Already signed to the team are former USport players including University of Windsor Quarterback Colby Henkel, University of Calgary Receiver Brycen Mayoh, University of McMaster’s Linebacker Jesse Zajaros and Polis Koko Defensive Back from the University of Regina. Additional players will be signing on June 1st CJFL Signing Day.

“Coach Beatty has put together a strong coaching staff and has recruited some talented high character players. The off-season program in the weight room and on the field has been very encouraging and we look forward to seeing it come together this weekend at Spring Camp”, states Rob Lervold, Rebels President and GM.

The Westshore Rebels Spring Camp is being held at the newly renovated Westhills Stadium (1089 Langford Parkway) from May 31 – June, 2019 and is open to the public to come and watch all the action.
