June 1st, 2019 Langford, BC (ISN) – The Westshore Rebels of the British Columbia Football Conference opened their spring camp Saturday at Westhills Stadium, hosting a full roster of prospects from across Canada.
Looking to put last year’s performance behind them, the Rebels are sporting a new looking roster of prospects, as well as an allstar coaching staff in their bid to return to the National Championship they hosted in 2016 under then head coach JC Boice. Boice returning to the team this year as Offensive Head Coach is looking to make a difference in Head Coach Shane Beatty’s team that last year struggled to find the end zone at times.
Seventy- one players hit the grid iron Saturday morning look to make their presence felt and secure a position on the team that many people outside the team are watching carefully as the July start to the season nears. With all but seven players in attendance for the two day camp, it was evident from the effort left on the field that those players looking to secure a roster spot were on notice that any roster spot will be an earned position on the team.
BCFC football season opens August 3rd when the Westshore Rebels will travel to Chilliwack to take on the Valley Huskers. The Rebels will play their first home game in their newly renovated stadium on August 10th against their up-island rival the Vancouver Island Raiders.
