The Western Lacrosse Association has announced that New Westminster Salmonbellies forward Austin Shanks has been named the WLA Player of the Week ending July 1, 2019.
Shanks had seven goals and three assists in two games this week for the Bellies. In their 14-13 overtime loss to Burnaby on Friday, Shanks had four and two assists, including two powerplay goals. Shanks then followed up with a hat trick and an assist against the Shamrocks at Queen’s Park Arena on Saturday. Shanks currently leads New West in goals with 23 as he has 32 points in 9 games this season.
