The Nanaimo Timbermen came into the Q Center Tuesday with a mission and it was mission accomplished by holding on for a 10-9 win over the home team Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks.  The visitors led 5-1 and 8-5 by period but the Shamrocks put on a late push to get within a goal.  Leading Victoria’s offense was newcomer Taioshonathe Mccomber with a pair of goals and 2 helpers.  Patrick Dodds and Zach Manns also had 2 goals each.  Austin Madronic had a goal and 3 helpers with other goals coming from Brayden Brown and Ben Preston.  Cam Dunkerley and newly-acquired Brody Harris shared goaltending duties.

The Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks wrap up their regular season with a pair of games against the Port Coquitlam Saints this weekend.  They host the Saints at 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 6 when it will be fan appreciation day and make the return visit to PoCo Sunday.  Victoria and New Westminster are currently tied for second in the standings 4 points behind the league-leading Coquitlam Adanacs.  Nanaimo sits 2 points behind in the fourth and final playoff spot with Langley 2 points back of them.  All 5 teams have a pair of games to go to determine playoff spots.
