West Shore’s junior cricketers continued their winning ways over the weekend with a 27-run victory over Oak Bay Islanders at the Metchosin Cricket Ground Saturday. Captain Sam won the toss and chose to set the pace with the bats. Midway through the 12-over innings, the boundaries started to appear, with James and Sam each finding the rope and setting a score of 74.
In the second innings, brothers Zach and Marcus opened the batting for the visitors, but Metchosin’s bowlers were quick to benefit from four quick wickets in less than two overs. Emma and Sarah soon took up the torch as the last hope for Oak Bay, but despite some smart and aggressive running, they came up short in the end.
Next up is a bye-week for Metchosin, while Oak Bay prepares for a visit to Windsor Park from the Victoria Gulls. Also on tap this weekend, the Saanich Aces will visit the expansion Peninsula Bulldogs at Iroquois Park in Sidney.
