The Jr A Nanaimo Timbermen emerged victorious in game one of their best of seven series versus the Coquitlam Adanacs at the Coquitlam Sports Center.

The Timbermen are widely considered the underdogs in this series going up against the league leading Adanacs but the young team entered this game with confidence having won twice against the Adanacs in the regular season. Ryan Sheridan collected a shorthanded goal and two assists as the top point getter for the Timbermen with Captain Will Johansen and Kyle Dawson each contributing two goals.

League leading goal scorer Thomas Vaesen added a goal and an assist and Arthur Miller finished off the scoring with a beautiful powerplay marker. Colton Lidstone Jack Bowie and James Taylor were also in on the assists. The Timbermen defence was solid all game earning an 86% penalty kill percentage and Justin Geddie was stellar in net saving 48 of 53 shots .Coquitlam was led by Dennon Armstrong and Max Semple with three points each.

Game two goes Wednesday night back at the Coquitlam Sports Center with games three and four coming to the island at the Frank Crane Arena. The winner of this series earns a berth in the Minto Cup Tournament being held at the Langley Events Center August 15 to 26.
