It was all Victoria Shamrocks Friday night as the Rocks defeated the Coquitlam Adanacs 14-2 at The Q Centre. The Shamrocks were in complete control in every part of the game as they are now tied for the top spot and are ahead of the Burnaby Lakers due to tiebreakers with a record of 10-5, good for 20 points. The Shamrocks have two games left this season, and a win over the Lakers Sunday would put the Rocks in position for home-court advantage in the postseason.

Coquitlam was held scoreless for the first two periods before Yuya Okumura got the Adanacs on the board with his first career WLA goal 2:09 into the third. Matt Delmonico got the second goal for the Adanac as he scored for the first time since July 6th. Curtis Sim was the only Adanac with multiple points as he got an assist on both goals. In net, Andrew Gallant made 45 stops on 59 shots, the most shots he’s faced this season for Coquitlam.

Rocks netminder Peter Dubenski wasn’t named a star in Friday’s win but probably should’ve. Dubenski stopped 28 shots and gave up just two goals, the least amount given up by a starter this year. Some credit has to go to the Rocks defense as well, as they were tenacious in their efforts, including Steve Priolo and Mack Mitchell, to shut down Coquitlam. Fourteen goals are no small task either as Jesse King and Connor Robinson each had seven points for the Shamrocks with King getting four goals and Robinson getting four assists. Tyler Pace had a solid night for the Rocks too, netting two goals and two assists, as the trade deadline acquisition from Langley now has six points in two games for Victoria.
