Victoria 12, Burnaby 8
It was all Shamrocks to start the game as Victoria opened with a 10-1 run. They didn’t look back as the Rocks clinched a playoff spot and have an opportunity for home-court advantage if they can get wins against New West and Coquitlam this week, both away from home. Victoria could do no wrong against the Lakers, especially Chris Boushy, who had four goals for the Shamrocks. Peter Dubenski made 38 stops on his way to his third straight win and sixth this season.
It’s no surprise that 10-1 was just too big of a lead to overcome for Burnaby. Robert Church had a five-point performance, including two goals and three assists, while Zak Boychuk received the loss. Boychuk stopped 27 of 32 shots in 43 minutes of game time. The loss puts the Lakers in fourth place with a critical Friday night contest coming up against the Nanaimo Timbermen with a potential playoff spot on the line.
