While it wasn’t the prettiest victory, the Victoria Shamrocks came away with a 9-8 win over the Coquitlam Adanacs and with that win, the Shamrocks clinched the top seed in the WLA playoffs. The Shamrocks now take on the Nanaimo Timbermen Tuesday night at The Q Centre in Game #1 of their WLA Semifinals matchup. For the Adanacs, they fall to a record of 3-15 and will have the #1 pick in the 2020 WLA Draft.

Coquitlam had a terrific performance from John Hofseth, who easily had his best game of the season with four goals and two assists against the Shamrocks. Hofeseth finished the season with 32 points in 13 games and looks to be a significant player for the Adanacs in the future. Another notable Adanac on Saturday night was Parker Kump, who had two goals and three assists for Coquitlam. Andrew Gallant turned in a solid performance, making 49 saves for the Adanacs.

Chris Boushy got a hat trick for the Shamrocks, as the leading scorer for Victoria finished the year with 37 goals and 20 assists this season. On the back end, Mack Mitchell was tough defensively while putting up a couple of assists on offense. Mitchell was named the third star of the night while tying his point total this season (5) from last season. Connor Robinson had another solid performance for Victoria Saturday, getting two goals and two assists as he’s put up 19 points in his previous four games.

The 2019 WLA Playoffs start this Tuesday as the Nanaimo Timbermen take on their island rival Victoria Shamrocks at The Q Centre.
