Skratch announced that Season 2 of “Is It Driveable presented by Avis” will feature World Long Drive champion Maurice Allen’s attempt to be the first person to drive a golf ball across Niagara Falls. The first episode in the three-part series will appear on July 30, with the remaining episodes being released on consecutive days at www.skratchtv.com.
The series will showcase the scouting and preparation that goes into making the feat possible along with learning more about Allen and the grand finale where Allen attempts to drive it across Niagara Falls. In each episode, Avis Car Rental helps Allen along his journey by providing the vehicle to get to and from his final destination with ease.
In the second episode, Allen reflects on John Daly’s failed attempt to drive a golf ball across Niagara Falls in 2005. Allen will use these learnings to determine the optimal club and ball flight that he wants to utilize when attempting the feat.
Allen will attempt his drive from the same location as Daly’s highly publicized attempt. He will hit his drive from Niagara Parks overlook in Canada to the U.S. side of Niagara Parks, which requires a ball flight of 342 yards. For context, Rory McIlroy recorded the longest carry distance (342 yards) during the 2017-18 PGA TOUR Season. The difficulty others have faced when attempting the shot comes when factoring in unpredictable wind and humidity coming from Niagara Falls.
“Skratch is excited to share Maurice’s attempt to achieve what no one has ever done,” said Skratch General Manager Sam Raeburn. “Maurice is a tremendous ambassador for the game of golf as fans will see in this series. Skratch’s Is It Driveable presented by Avis series has been very successful in highlighting the amazing skills of today’s golfers.”
With the help of Avis Car Rental and the Avis mobile app, traveling the route to Niagara Falls is more seamless than ever before. Right from your smartphone, you can use the Avis mobile app to make or modify a reservation, choose the exact car you want, flash the lights to help locate your car and more.
“No matter the nature of the trip, we’re dedicated to helping our customers get on the road faster and reach their final destination with greater ease, and this case is no exception. We’re honored to be a part of Maurice Allen’s historic feat and further support the game of golf as a proud sponsor of the PGA TOUR,” said Joe Ferraro, President, Americas, for Avis Budget Group.
