August 2, 2019 Victoria, BC (ISN) – This Saturday, August 3rd, the Westshore Rebels will hit the asphalt and travel to Exhibition Stadium and the Chilliwack Valley Huskers to open what has become a much anticipated start to the British Columbia Football Conference season, and in turn to the Canadian Junior Football League.
The Rebels and Huskers, playing in their first BCFC Game of the Week, will have all eyes cast on the game from the stands and the live streaming of the game by the BCFCTV crew. Despite the odds-takers comments, which are already swirling around this match up, it will take more than an opening game match up to quell the flames of debate about team parity or superiority and preseason aquisistions that are believed will make the difference in each teams success.
ISN, not in the game of early season foretelling of success or failure in a game on match up, will let Blake Roberts from Dieter’s Canadian Junior Football Podcast offer his opinion of the game and give us a prophetic look at a plausible outcome.
” Westshore Rebels (3-6-1 in 2018) @ Valley Huskers (6-4 in 2018)
I am jacked about this “game of the week” as the two clubs I expected to make the biggest strides over 2018 go head to head.
The Rebels WILL be miles ahead of last year’s 3-6-1 and while the Huskers may or may not better their 6-4 mark, by all accounts are a better rounded team then 2018. The big question mark is at quarterback following the graduation of MVP Julian Wytinck.
The Rebels can throw the ball, but can they protect the passer and run the ball? The Huskers defence sounds much better than last year, but has the offense slipped? Tune in Saturday afternoon to find out as these clubs meet for the first of 3 games this year.
Rebels 20 Huskers 14 .”

Here’s a look at some gridiron work from behind the lens of ISN and Rebel’s team photographer as the Westshore Rebels prepared last Saturday with a team scrimmage to iron out any kinks in the play book.
