It was a black and blue game near the end, but it didn’t matter to the Maple Ridge Burrards. They escaped Queen’s Park Arena with a 12-8 win over the New Westminster Salmonbellies and even the series at 1-1. These teams play Sunday night again at Cam Neely Arena (6:00 PM, WLA TV) and each side certainly sees that a chance to take a stranglehold on the series.

The game was tied at six apiece heading into the final period, where Maple Ridge would outscore New West 6-2 to win. Dane Dobbie led the Burrards in scoring tonight, getting two goals and four assists, including a powerplay goal with 6:38 in the period. Ben McIntosh had a hat trick in the game and got the Burrards ninth and twelve goals of the game. Since returning on July 20, McIntosh has scored twelve goals for Maple Ridge. Frank Scigliano played terrifically as well, making 49 saves in the win.

Keegan Bal and Austin Shanks were leading the forefront on the Bellies offense, each putting up six points for New West. Two nights after coming off a four-goal performance, Shanks had a hat trick with three assists and leads the playoff scoring race with thirteen points. In net, Alexis Buque gave up 11 goals on 38 shots and was pulled with just under eight minutes to go. It was the first time Buque gave up double-digit goals since July 18.
