The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack got a goal and one assist from their lone fifth year player as they downed the Apple Valley Storm 2-1 in exhibition men’s soccer play on Tuesday(Aug 20).

Justin Donaldson (midfield, Kamloops, BC)  scored in the first half and assisted on the winning goal by fellow TRU captain James Fraser (4th year, forward, Penticton, BC) in the second half.

The Storm are the U.S. National 2002 age group champs.

“ They were a very good team who were very talented and technical,” said TRU head coach John Antulov. “They put us under a lot of bother but we were able to handle it. I thought in the first half, we had a good jump defensively. The build up and attack were solid.”

Donaldson gave TRU a 1-0 lead after the first half.  The Storm tied it up in the second half on a penalty shot.  The WolfPack sealed the win in the 82nd minute as Donaldson combined with Fraser.

The WolfPack have a day off before meeting the University of Fresno Pacific (NCAA Div  II) Thunderbirds on Thursday (Aug 22) before winding things up Saturday (Aug 24) against the College of the Sequoias Giants.
