The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 in overtime Sunday night at Angel of the Winds Arena in the final game of the Delta Hotels Preseason Classic.
The T-Birds are now 2-1-0-0 on the preseason. They defeated the Vancouver Giants 4-2 on Friday and the Tri-City Americans 4-3 on Saturday at the Classic.
Brendan Williamson gave the T-Birds a 1-0 lead just 1:27 into the first period on the power play. Henrik Rybinski passed the puck to Matthew Wedman to the right of the net. Wedman backhanded the puck through the low slot to Williamson in the left circle. Williamson one-time the pass past Everett goalie Braden Holt.
Everett tied the game 1-1 at 9:11 of the first on a goal by Jake Christiansen.
Seattle took a 2-1 lead at 7:43 of the third period on a shorthanded goal by Keltie Jeri-Leon. Graeme Bryks won a faceoff in the right circle back to Jeri-Leon. Jeri-Leon gathered the puck and snapped it past Holt for his first goal of the preseason.
The Silvertips tied the game 2-2 at 17:19 of the third on a power-play goal from Gage Goncalves.
Ronan Seeley scored at 1:18 of overtime to win the game for the Silvertips.
Preseason play continues for the T-Birds at the Red Lion Hotels’ Preseason Tournament at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. The T-Birds will begin the tournament on Friday, September 6, against the Tri-City Americans at 7:05pm. Tournament play will conclude on Saturday, September 7 with a matchup against the Portland Winterhawks at 3pm.
The T-Birds wrap up preseason play with a home game against the Everett Silvertips on Tuesday, September 10, at 7:05pm at accesso ShoWare Center.
The T-Birds start the 2019-20 Western Hockey League regular season against the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday, September 21, at 6:05pm at accesso ShoWare Center.
