The Bulldogs captain Mitch Deelstra has committed to the Ferris State Bulldogs for next season.
Deelstra currently leads all Bulldogs with 11 goals and 18 points in 19 games played this season. Last season, his first in Port Alberni, Deelstra posted 20 goals.
Deelstra’s commitment is the first for the Bulldogs this season, and he becomes the 6th player to earn an NCAA Division 1 scholarship.
“We’re very proud of Mitch and the effort he’s put in to earn this commitment” said Bulldogs general manager and head coach Joe Martin. “Mitch has been a leader for our group right from the beginning of camp. Ferris State is getting themselves a quality player, and person.”
“I’m super excited to stay a Bulldog for the next 4 years” said Deelstra. “I’m thrilled to be part of such a great program. I can’t thank my parents and everyone enough who has helped me thus far in my career.”
The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday when they head to Nanaimo to take on the Clippers and return to the Dawg Pound on Saturday when they host the Powell River Kings at 7:00 pm.
