While he could’ve been inducted in any number of categories, Hindmarch enters the Hall in men’s hockey thanks to his UBC record 214 career victories, which included leading the Thunderbirds to the 1971 Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship.

Hindmarch coached the T-Birds men’s hockey squad for a dozen years, beginning in 1964-65. He would go on to become Director of UBC Athletics in 1980 – a position he would hold for 12 years.

Internationally, Hindmarch worked as general manager and assistant coach of the 1964 Canadian Olympic hockey team, which was based out of UBC. He served 16 years as vice-president of the Canadian Olympic Association and was Chef de Mission for the Canadian team at the 1984 Winter Olympics.

He was also a pioneer in sport exchanges with Asian and European countries, including the T-Birds’ 1973 trip to China.
