Spokane, WA – The Victoria Royals fell in overtime 4-3 to the Spokane Chiefs at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night.

Road Trip Recap: The Royals concluded their three-game US Division road trip with a record of 2-0-1-0. In those three games, Victoria went a perfect 4/4=100.0% on the penalty kill.

 

November Report: In the month of November, the Royals tied for the third highest point percentage in the WHL as the club earned 75.0% of their potential points. Over that span, the Royals posted a record of 7-2-1-0.

 

Penalty Free: Tonight’s contest marked the third time in Royals’ franchise history that the team did not take a penalty in a game. The two other times this has occurred were on November 9th, of this season, versus the Prince George Cougars and on April 3, 2018 against the Vancouver Giants in Game 7 of their first-round playoff series.

 

Point Streak: Victoria forwards Gary Haden (4g-1a) and Tarun Fizer (2g-2a) have both tallied points in each of their last three games.

 

Team Denmark: Tomorrow, Victoria’s Captain Phillip Schultz will join Team Demark for the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, Division 1, Group A Tournament in Minsk, Belarus. Schultz will join Royals’ assistant coach JF Best who will be working for Team Denmark as an assistant coach.

 

Island Born: Spokane goaltender Campbell Arnold is a 2002-born product from Nanaimo, BC. Prior to joining the Chiefs, Arnold played for Shawinigan Lake School’s Bantam Prep and Varsity teams of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.

 

Did You Know: Spokane forward Baron Thompson was originally drafted by Victoria in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft (third round, 56th overall). Thompson was traded from the Royals to the Brandon Wheat Kings prior to the 2016-17 season and was listed by Spokane on November 9th of this season.

 

Next Home Game: Victoria will return to Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a three-game homestand that will begin on Wednesday, December 4th against BC Division rivals the Vancouver Giants. The Royals will then host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th. Saturday’s contest in the club’s annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
