The Victoria Royals fell to the Kamloops Blazers 5-1 on Saturday night at the Sandman Centre.
The Blazers had a great night on home ice. The win improved the Blazers to 24-11-2-1 on the season and stretched their B.C. Division lead to seven points.
Logan Stankoven led the way with a goal and two assists. Max Martin and Quinn Schmiemann had two assists and Zane Franklin, Orrin Centazzo, Ryley Appelt and Inaki Baragano scored goals.

Road Trip: The Royals are now 3-1-0-0 on their ongoing five-game road trip. During the trip, Victoria has outscored their opponents 13-8. The club went 1-1-0-0 against the Blazers on this road swing.
BC Division Standings: The Royals sit in second place in the BC Division with 44 points (21-13-2-0) and trail the first place Blazers by seven points. However, Victoria has played two fewer games than Kamloops. The two teams will match-up four more times this season. The next two contests will take place on February 7th & 8th at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
Putting Up Points: With an assist in tonight’s game, Royals’ forward Kaid Oliver has tallied 11 points (6g-5a) in his last eight contests.
Top Prospects: Both starting goalies in tonight’s contest will be participating in the 2020 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on January 16th in Hamilton, ON. Victoria’s Brock Gould will be playing on Team Red, while Kamloops’ Dylan Garand will suit up for Team White. Blazers’ forward Connor Zary will also be participating in the game and will join Garand on Team White.
On the Road: The Royals will conclude this five-game road trip on Wednesday, January 8th against the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place.
