The Victoria Royals faced off against the Red Deer Rebels on Tuesday in front of a small crowd of 3,081. They were successful in their third-period comeback as they defeated the Rebels 3-1.
The game lacked energy for the first two periods as both teams were not able to get find the back of the net. Red Deer was first to score as Ben King tapped in the rebound picking up his 15th with assists from Zak Smith and Arshdeep Bains.
The game would remain 1-0 for Red Deer until the halfway mark of the third period when captain Phillip Shultz scored for the Royals picking up his 9th of the season with help from Gary Haden. Shultz would net another goal for the Royals five minutes later which proved to be the game-winner as he picked up his 10th of the season with assists from Haden and Miller. Victoria would tap in one last goal as Kaid Oliver scored his 17th with assists from Tracey and Prowse.
The Royals now sit at a record of 29 wins 18 losses 4 overtime losses and 1 shootout loss. they’re currently sitting in 2nd behind the Kamloops Blazers in the BC division.
