The Victoria Royals selected defenceman Alexander Young (21st overall) and forward Jackson Foddrill (24th overall), in the inaugural 2020 WHL U.S. Prospects Draft.

Alexander Young

The Royals used their first pick, 21st overall in the first round, to select Rancho Cucamonga, CA native Alexander Young from the Los Angeles Jr. Kings Under-14 team of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League (T1EHL). The 5-9, 147 lb defenceman played in 54 games for LA where he earned 34 points (11g-23a), to go along with 18 penalty minutes. Young’s 34 points and 23 assists were the most among Kings’ defencemen.

“We are pleased to have been able to select Alexander with this pick,” President and General Manager Cameron Hope said. “He is a very good young defender who plays the game well in all zones and who has great development potential.”

Jackson Foddrill

With the 24th overall pick in the second round, Victoria chose 5-8, 151 lb forward Jackson Foddrill from the Dallas Stars Elite Under-14 team of the T1EHL. During the 2019-20 season, Foddrill recorded 13 points (8g-5a) in nine games.  The native of Colleyville, TX led his team in scoring.

“Jackson is a smart and dynamic forward,” Hope said. “He has vision and skill, and he plays the game with purpose.”
