November 14, 2021 Victoria, BC (ISN) – The varsity Mt. Douglas Rams football team entered the quarter finals of the BC AAA High School football playoffs with a dominating 42-13 victory over visiting WJ Mouat Hawks of Abbotsford in wild card, postseason football action Friday evening at Goudy Field in Langford, BC.

Powered by the Rams’ BC High School All-star running back Miltiadis Koulelis’s four touchdown performance to lead his team in the victory, the Rams offense would take advantage of every opportunity their stifling defense would offer, erupting for 6 touchdowns in the first half alone to put the game away early with a 42-6 halftime score.

After WJ Mouat starting QB Caden Martens would take the ball the length of the field and to the house in their opening possession of the game, taking the Rams by surprise, it would be the Mount Doug Rams defense that would step up to take over the game with five interceptions including a pick-six interception run back for a touchdown by Rams’ Bryce Reuther late in the half after a pressured QB Martens would throw an errant ball into the waiting hands of the “hawking” Reuther.

The Hawks starting chucker Martens would find a way to score one final time, in the third quarter, rushing for another QB keeper to post his second and final major of the game in his team’s loss.

Despite the slow start, Ram’s head coach Mark Townsend is confident looking forward. “It wasn’t quite the start we were looking for. We’re just going to keep grinding away and work to improve with every opportunity, however, I’m really impressed with the guys’ toughness and tenacity.”

Mount Douglas Rams, finishing third in their AAA West Division in regular season play, will now await the outcome of other BC High school football action to see who they will face in quarterfinals action. Due to their final regular season placing, the road the Rams will travel to BC Place’s Subway Bowl will have to continue off the island as the away team in each match up.
