Male Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Vitor Pereria – Camosun Chargers
The Chargers were led by their fifth year Brazilian right side Vitor Pereira over the weekend. On Friday, Pereira scored seven kills, had two aces and a block in a tightly contested match. On Saturday, he was in end-of-season form and once again led the team with 17 kills, three aces and four blocks in a five-set thriller.
Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Linnea Brickwood – VIU Mariners
This past weekend the Mariners were led by their second year setter Linnea Brickwood. Her deceptive setting and strong blocking pushed the Mariners to a four set victory on Friday night. She recorded 34 assists, seven offensive kills, five solo blocks and 17 digs. Then on Saturday she carried on her strong play recording 43 assists, had a kill, an ace, three solo blocks and 11 digs. In total for the weekend Linnea had an amazing total of 77 assists, eight kills, one service ace, eight solo blocks and 28 digs.
