The lone women’s basketball game on Friday saw the Falcons earn their first win of the season shooting 37% from the field. Rachel Labrador led the charge with 22 points and 11 rebounds while Davian Tsang added 14 on the strength of four-three pointers.
The Bearcats outscored the Falcons in the second half, but fell short of their comeback bid. Ryann Lee again the way with 18 and Samantha Leyenhorst was outstanding with 15 points and 17 rebounds.
MEN FRIDAY
VIU Mariners 84
Capilano Blues 78
The Mariners remain undefeated with a big win over the Blues on Friday night. They would explode in the second half netting 30 points in the third quarter and held the Blues to just 18 and shot 43% from the field. All-Star guard Cameron Gay was back in the lineup and led the home side with 18 points, Akoi Yuot finished with 12 and 11 and Richard Henderson was strong with 13 points and 10 boards.
The Blues shot 38% from the field with their starters scoring all but nine points in the contest. Marko Cosic finished with a team high 18 points, CJ Campbell scored 16 and Harry Liu recorded 14.

The Falcons pulled away in the second half earning their fifth win of the season shooting 42%. They were balanced in their scoring as well led by Jas Dhudwal and his team high 14 points. Allayasa Bray came off the bench for 13 and Royce Sargeant dropped in 12.
The Bearcats played a solid game shooting 41% from the field led by David Matabazi and his 22 points and 12 rebounds. Kyle Brown was good as well dropping in 19 points and grabbed eight boards.

The Falcons completed the weekend sweep with a strong second half in Abbotsford on Saturday. They would shoot 38% from the field led by Rachel Labrador for the second straight night and her 19 points. They also saw good production from their short bench as Stefany Martinez made an impact with 15 points in 22 minutes of play.
On the other side of the court Ryann Lee was outstanding with a game high 33 points on 12 of 30 shooting and nailed six-three pointers. Samantha Leyenhorst was again a force dropping 18 and grabbing 14 rebounds

It was a back and forth start as both teams combined for an incredible 59-point first quarter.
The Mariners stayed hot all game shooting 52% from the field with Richard Henderson leading the way with 24 points. Akoi Yuot continues to impress recording 19 points and 13 rebounds and Tori Odom collected 17 and nine boards.
The Blues played a solid road game coming up just short outscoring the Mariners in the final frame 28-19. Overall they shot 39% from the field led by Tyrone Asenoguan and his game high 26 points. Harry Liu and CJ Campbell each had 13 points in the set back.

The Falcons used a 28-point first quarter to help record a weekend sweep on Saturday over the Bearcats. They would shoot 48% from the field led by Saleen Al-Musa off the bench and his 24 points on 12 of 16 shooting. Royce Sargeant was good as well with 18 points and Allayasa Bray dropped in 16.
With a bench of only two players deep the Bearcats starters carried the load. Kyle Brown had a game high 25 points, David Mutabazi recorded 15 and 12 while Jeff Ma had 14 points and seven boards.
