The Victoria Royals and the Vancouver Giants played their last game of 2021 on Thursday night. In which Victoria came out victorious by a score of 7-3. Campbell Arnold picked up the win for the Royals stopping 35 shots out of 38. The first period was off to a hot start as Keanu Derungs scored 1:13 into the period. Picking up his 7th goal of the season with assists coming from Bailey Peach, and Gannon Laroque. Not much later the Royals would be back on the board as Brayden Schuurman sneaks one past the Giants’ Will Gurski. He picked up his 16th with assists coming from Bailey Peach (once again) and Tanner Scott. At about the halfway point of the first period, the Royals were on the penalty kill when Bailey Peach stole the puck and scored his 17th non assisted. The period ended with the shots being 18-13 in favor of Vancouver.

As the second period started the Giants looked to rebound after a mess of a first period. It wouldn’t take long when Julian Cull scored his first of the season with an assist coming from Jaden Lipinski. (time of the goal was 3:57) Three minutes later Bailey Peach got away on a breakaway and was tripped in which resulted in a penalty shot. It was no question for Peach as he tucked it away for his 17th and his fourth point of the night. Once again the Royals were up on the powerplay when they tallied another goal. Brayden Schuurman ripped one in and picked up his 17th with assists coming from Gannon Laroque and Bailey Peach. Vancouver fought back as Cole Shepard scored his 3rd with assists from Nicco Camazzola and Ty Thorpe. The period ended with the Royals leading 5-2.

The Giants scored first in the third period early on the powerplay as Jaden Lipinski scored his first. Assists: Ty Halabburda and Tanner Brown). Victoria would score two goals about a minute apart with Bailey peach scoring (18G) yet again with assists coming from Brayden Schuurman and Devin Aubin. The second goal was scored by Keanu Derungs as he deflected the puck scoring his 8th of the season with assists from Gannon Laroque and Bailey Peach.

Bailey Peach set a new franchise record for the Victoria Royals. He’s definitely a player to keep your eye on in the new year as he is a huge part of the Royals success.
