Regrettably, the public health orders currently in place make it difficult to stage the Greater Victoria Sports Awards as we had initially intended. The return of this event after a lengthy hiatus was to celebrate the successes of teams, athletes and volunteers for their successes and contributions to the Greater Victoria sport system.
Therefore, with an abundance of caution, we are announcing today of the postponement of the Greater Victoria Sports Awards to February 2023. A new date will be determined in the fall.
“Greater Victoria’s history as an incubator for incredible sport talent is well documented in the successes of teams and individuals who have competed successfully on multiple stages”, said Keith Wells, Greater Victoria Sports Tourism Commission lead. “This event aims to recognize and honour those successes while celebrating sport.”
The Committee will continue to seek nominations for the various categories including aboriginal, team, volunteer, and seniors categories. Nomination details can be found at www.gvsa.ca.
The committee is also looking for a variety of trophies handed out at prior Victoria Sports Awards. Anyone with information on those trophies can reach the committee at [email protected].
