Pacific Football Club is searching the seven seas for a new starfish mascot for the 2022 season. The oversized purple starfish debuted with the launch of the team in 2019, and is a popular mainstay of Pacific FC home matches at Starlight Stadium.

“Stewie is an important part of our club’s culture and a real crowd favourite for our younger fans,” said Katie Hamilton, In-Stadium Host, Pacific FC. “These are truly big shoes to fill, and we are excited to find the right person.”

A successful Stewie candidate is energetic, motivated, an enthusiastic performer and available for all home games plus community outreach events throughout Vancouver Island. The mascot must be a positive team player that is self-motivated, creative, outgoing and loves interacting with people in the community.

Starfish come in a common shape, but can be different sizes. The ideal Stewie the Starfish ranges in height from 5-foot-8 to 6-foot-1. Mascot duties can be demanding; Stewie visits with countless fans sometimes in challenging temperatures. Strong non-verbal skills, such as high-fives and dance moves, are encouraged.

Real starfish have no brain or blood, but neither of these are an asset to this position.

“We are looking for a real person who will compliment our team and have a positive attitude,” said Hamilton.

Starfish can live up to 35-years, but in this case, the successful candidate would need to be 18-years or older and able to legally work in Canada. The identity of the mascot is kept confidential.
