The Victoria Shamrocks are pleased to welcome Maki Jenner to the front office team in a lead role in Communications and Media Relations.
At a young age, Jenner is already a seasoned vet, most notably having gained national recognition through her regular feature, “LAX Facts” on TSN. A role that was created for her after being scouted on social media by a TSN producer. Prior to making her national TV debut, Jenner had already built an impressive resume including being a contributing journalist to “Lacrosse Flash” covering the PLL, NLL, and NCAA lacrosse action and gained experience working internationally supporting the New York Riptide communications team.
“Maki brings a tremendous wealth of experience and knowledge to this role, having been born and raised in a Victoria lacrosse family and deeply immersed in the sport her entire life both as a player and now as a journalist” raved Shamrocks’ General Manager, Chris Welch. “She’s an emerging talent who is quickly making a name for herself in lacrosse media and we couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to work with her and watch as she continues to grow in the sport”.
Jenner, a Victoria native has been pursuing her dreams in a career in sports media and is continuing her path as the newest member of the Shamrocks front office team. She will have a large role in content development through lending her unique voice to making the sport accessible to new fans, while lifelong Shamrocks’ fans will enjoy her perspective and insight into the game.
Jenner has had a stick in her hands since she was four, and was most recently on a lacrosse scholarship in the US pursuing her athletic career and working towards earning a Sport Communications degree at Concordia University St. Paul, in Minnesota. In her spare time, Jenner also helps coach the Saanich U16 boys box team. She is also no stranger to the Shamrocks organization, as her father was a member of the Shamrocks from 1994-2003 winning a Mann Cup in the 1997 season, and her uncle Ted Jenner, also played and is currently a broadcaster for the NLL and WLA. With the knowledge of the game, and her vast work experience, it’s full circle to bring another Jenner into the Shamrocks organization.
