Eight of the Victoria Royals top prospects will compete with their respective U18 AAA teams at the prestigious Circle K Classic tournament in Calgary, AB this week.
This year’s tournament will feature over 30 of the top under-18 minor hockey teams from across Canada, Europe and the United States at the five day event that runs from Dec. 27 to Jan 1.
Three prospects selected by Victoria in the 2022 WHL draft and four selected in the 2021 draft will compete at this year’s tournament.
First round pick Cole Reschny (Saskatoon Blazers U18 AAA), third round pick Grant Reid (Yale Hockey Academy U18 Prep) and fifth-rounder Caleb Matthews (Calgary Buffaloes U18 AAA) round out the list of 2022 selections, while fourth round pick Matthew Keller (Edge School U18 Prep), seventh round pick Steven Foster (Yale Hockey Academy U18 Prep), 10th round pick Brendon Hall (Pacific Coast Academy U18 Prep) and 11th round selection Hudson Binder (Calgary Royals U18 AAA) will represent the club’s 2021 draft class.
Royals goaltending prospect Ryan Parker will also take part in the tournament as a member of Pacific Coast Academy U18 Prep.
The 2022-2023 Circle K Classic will run from Dec. 27 to Jan 1 in Calgary, AB.
