February 1, 2024  Victoria, BC (ISN) – The James Bay Mens Premier side chalked up their second, much-needed win on Saturday afternoon, holding off the Burnaby Lakers with a 21-14 win at MacDonald Park.

After four straight losses , the Bays marked their second win in seven games in a moral-boosting victory over the eighth-place Lakers, who also have had their own challenges this season in the standings.

James Bay would dominate the first half of a match that saw a spattering of rugby fans brave the chill and snow squalls to witness the fixture. The Bay’s forwards would have their way with the Lakers in the first half, marking the score sheet with a 15-0 lead into the half.

The Lakers would push back in the second frame scoring 2 trys under dark, inclement weather that featured rain, hail and snow, however the Bays, prudently would rely on Lakers penalties to kick a pair through the uprights to turn aside any thought of Burnaby comeback and seal the 21-14 James Bay win.
