March 29, 2024 Saanich, BC ( ISN ) – Community football youth from Vancouver Island descended on Saanich, BC Saturday to kick off the 2025 Vancouver lsland Canadian Football Association spring season in a day-long jamboree.
The event, held at Beckwith Park, and hosted by Saanich Wolverines Football, saw youth ages 7-13 and their fans travel from as far as Parksville to take part in the icebreaker.
Early morning showers turned to blue skies as hundreds of spectators cheered on their favourite teams in what appeared to a a hugely successful day for the host Wolverines and island football in all.
The 2025 season will see most teams play a 7-8 game schedule from April to June, with the season’s end culminating an island championship weekend.
