Saturday afternoon the British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) showcased a marquis matchup as the Westshore Rebels Football took on the Okanagan Sun Football Club at Starlight Stadium in Langford, BC.
The Rebels were poised for their third win of the young season, up 32-26 after three quarters of play, however the undefeated Sun would jump all over some costly turnovers in the final frame to pull out the win.
Despite a 4-TD performance by Rebels Zion Brown, the host team would relinquish the lead late in the game to give the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) -ranked #2 team in the nation a narrow 43-39 win. Sun QB Liam Kroeger, passing for 309 yards, would get the win for his team behind a strong 2nd-half performance by Belmont Bulldogs Football and Rebel alumnus Gerren Hardisty. Hardisty would find his 149 yards rushing the hard way under a relentless Rebel defence, carrying the ball 26 times. The cumulative points total from the game would be the highest scoring match up of the season to date in the British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC).
Westhshore’s receiver Zion Brown continued to give BCFC team’s defensive secondary fits, scoring his 4 majors on the arm of Texas import QB Gavin Session. Session, relying on some scrambling magic, would find Brown 7 times, for 149 total yards receiving, while Session would throw for 276 yards offence on 18/33 attempts, and 5 touchdowns. Rebels receiver Tyrell Hofland would score the other TD for the Rebels.
Both Brown and Sessions lead the BCFC in the stats department with Brown leading in points scored ( 48 points ), receiving yards( 449 ) and TD receptions ( 8 ). Session leads the conference with 871 offensive yards, 818 total yards passing, and leads with 11 TD passes.
