Saturday night the Chargers (11-5) cruised to their 11th win of the season after outscoring the Coyotes 24-7 in the first quarter. They shot 38% from the field with four different players landing double-digit numbers. Tessa Lannon-Paakspuu knocked down a game high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Kathryn Candell came off the bench and scored 13 points.
The Coyotes (5-11) were frustrated all night shooting just 23% in their final home game of their inaugural season. Kasey Patchall hit three-three pointers and finished with 13 points and Sapna Deo collected 11 points.
VIU Mariners 92
Langara Falcons 34
It was the largest point differential in the PACWEST this season when the Mariners won by 58 points. Their defence held the Falcons to single digit points in the second, third and fourth quarters. Danielle Vanbergan knocked down six-three pointers and finished with a game high 24 points. Shayce Johnston had another big game with 20 points and 14 boards.
With the victory the Mariners clinch the first place seed with just two games remaining on the schedule.
The Falcons didn’t generate much shooting just 20% from the field. Breanne Homeniuk tallied a team high nine points in the loss.
