Campbell river came to Nanaimo with a 32-9 record as Nanaimo holds a record of 24-17.
Both the Storm and the Buccaneers came out to play and as expected, this was a tight game. At 6:27 of the first period Liam Nijhoff of the Campbell River storm scored the games first goal with the assists going to Zach Trempner and Damon Porter.
Neither team could capitalize on the power play both going 0-3. The Buccaneers controlled a lot of the play during the game, out shooting the storm 41 to 24, but the storm got an empty netter late to make the game 2-0 and take the two points back to Campbell River.
The three stars of the game were goaltender Austin Dendl of the Bucs who is the fifth best goalie in the VIJHL playing 20 games with 12 wins and a GAA of 2.46 and SV% .901.
Meanwhile on the other side of the ice getting the shut out is Aaron de Kok , who holds down second spot in goal-tending leaders with 30 games played 24 wins and goals against average of 1.89 and a save percentage of .936 .
This was also his 5th shut out of the season for the win 2-0 over the Nanaimo Buccaneers.
